Youth Speaks pushes responsibilty to Spokes, its Youth Advisory Board. Spokes develops special projects, organizes performances and other events, and develops projects within the organization. Along with focusing on outreach and the expansion of spoken word in the youth community, Spokes also produces promotional videos, CD's, and chapbooks, as well as works to update and maintain the Youth Speaks website. Most importantly, Spokes acts as advocates for the organization, inviting other teenagers to participate in Youth Speaks and making sure they feel comfortable when they come through.
